Summary

Cottage dates from the mid-late 19th century, based on cartographic evidence. Closely associated with the nearby Bridford Mills, this cottage was occupied by the Surridges, millers for over half a century at Bridford. Dwelling now appears to be known as 'The Grange'.

Teign Vale Cottage depicted on the late 19th century historic map; not shown on the earlier 1840s Tithe Map. Roughly square shaped dwelling to the west of Bridford Mill.

Largely unchanged on the early 20th century; house has a small extension added on the southern side.

This cottage is closely associated with Bridford Mill and the Surridges who were millers from the mid-19th century until at least 1921 and William Surridge (retired miller) lived here in the late 19th century with his family.
