The enclosure is in a field named 'Higher Berraton' on the Dowland Tithe Apportionment. It is possible that the 'Berra' element stems from 'bury' and references the enclosure.

Ovoid earthwork enclosure measuring c 59 x 47m positioned on a flat spur. The width of bank c.8m compared to ditch suggest considerable spreading by agriculture.

Kaye, S., 2024, Enclosure south of Upcott, Dowland CP (Worksheet). SDV365943.
The remains of an enclosure are visible on LiDAR data. It is situated on level ground and is broadly circular with a diameter of c.50m. Neither an entrance or an outer ditch can be seen. However, it has been eroded by agricultural activity; the raised embankment now being c.16m wide in places. It may be prehistoric in date, but could be later.
Unfortunately, it is not visible on available aerial photos.
