Iron Age activity on site was limited to three ditches and a pit, all of which were within the southern part of Area 2. Ditch 7 was orientated east to west and contained a single sedimentary fill from which a small amount of Iron Age pottery was recovered, alongside two small sherds of residual Bronze Age pottery. North-east to south-west orientated ditches 5 and 6 were perpendicular to ditch 7. Whilst they did not yield any artefactual material, they have been assigned to the Iron Age on the basis of their spatial organisation and because they were truncated by several Roman features. An additional length of ditch to the north-east was also on a broadly north to south alignment and truncated by Enclosure C, and possibly by Roman period Enclosure A, so may relate to this phase.
About 30m north-west of these linear ditches was a sub-oval pit (20193) which yielded 3 conjoining pottery sherds of probable Iron Age date. Residual Iron Age pottery was also retrieved from Roman enclosures A and B, and also from post-Roman enclosure D.
