Vis=10/11/1989 (weddell) loughtor corn mill. Below newenham park served by leat taken from tory brook at a point 2km above mill site (weddell).

Loughtor Mills are known to have operated since the 16th century. The buildings, although no longer used as a mill, are complete. The waterwheel, supplied by a pair of leats running along the east bank of Tory Brook, is the only known surviving one in the area which remians intact. Bodman, M., 1998, Water-Powered Sites in Devon (Report - non-specific). SDV305931.
Described as 'longter mills' in 1805 having a mill and house. In 1885 'loughter mills' consisted of a higher barley mill and a lower flour mill c7m away linked by a covered passage which was destroyed during a fire in 1885. The millpond was situated above the mill. A waterwheel adjoined the lower mill (bodman).
