Summary

Earthworks banks, terraces and ditches visible on images derived from lidar data have been interpreted as enclosures, tracks and possible building platforms associated with former settlement of probable medieval to post-medieval date to the south of Hazard Farm, Harberton parish.

University of Exeter, 2020-2021, University of Exeter Unlocking Landscapes Project – validated data, ULDEV224 (Interpretation). SDV365999.

Ditches, banks and rectilinear hollows to the southeast and southwest of Hazard Farm, including a potential former hollow way might suggest the presence of deserted settlement remains of medieval date. Evidence from evaluation immediately west of these earthworks identified an enclosure of Late Iron Age date but other features of post-Roman date. Potential for early medieval settlement origins here.
