Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

The earthwork does not correspond to any route depicted on the Tithe Map for Totnes.

University of Exeter, 2020-2021, University of Exeter Unlocking Landscapes Project – validated data, ULDEV230 (Interpretation). SDV365999.

A linear earthwork circa 340m in length, comprising a low bank up to 12m wide and suggestions of flanking ditches, interpreted as the former course of the present-day A381 that would have linked with the lane over Harper's Hill into the south side of Totnes towards the castle. Assume a medieval or post-medieval date but could be earlier.

Environment Agency, 2021, University of Exeter Understanding Landscapes Project - Lidar visualisation (Cartographic). SDV366001.

Ditches flanking a low bank or metalled or compacted surface are visible as earthworks.
