Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

The visible earthwork banks correspond in part with curvilinear boundaries depicted on the Tithe Map for Watchcombe.

The visible earthwork banks correspond in part with curvilinear boundaries depicted on the Tithe Map for Watchcombe but many are not depicted, indicating that they form part of a previously more extensive system of strip fields and lynchets, probably of medieval date, that had been partly cleared prior to the mid-19th century.
