Full description

Edwards, M. + Trick, S., 2023, Land at Venn Farm, Sowton, Devon: An Archaeological Magnetometer Survey (Report - Geophysical Survey). SDV366098.

Substrata were commissioned by Cotswold Archaeology in 2023 to conduct an archaeological magnetometer survey of c. 19 hectares of land at Venn Farm on the outskirts of Exeter in Devon. Forty-one geophysical anomaly groups were detected of which all were interpreted as representing potential buried archaeological deposits.

In area B, anomaly Group 24 is possibly a circular zone of increased positive magnetic response which may represent the remains of a circular feature, or activity in or around a circular entity. This is visible as a cropmark on current Google Maps satellite imagery (2023).
