Summary

A D-shaped enclosure of probable Iron Age to Roman date is visible on images derived from lidar data as an earthwork bank and ditch located on the crest of a ridge to the north of Portgate, Stowford.

A circular enclosure of circa 60m diameter is visible, defined by bank and ditch.

A curvilinear bank and external ditch are visible as earthworks.

The bank is approximately 6m to 10 m wide and encloses an area circa 40m by 37m in size. The bank material has probably been spread by the plough. Short stretches of ditch possibly abutting the eastern side of the enclosure might represent associated outworks of field boundaries.
