This single storey building is sited on the south side of the engine house. It is not shown on the 1867 map, but is shown on the Ordnance Survey map of 1884. It may have been the site of the mine’s carpenter’s shop. There may have been a subsidiary drive from the engine house to the building to power the various saw blades. The building was extended southwards by removing the south wall and rebuilding it approximately 2.5 metres further to the south, possibly in the late 1890s.
Parts of the end walls are extant at the west and east ends, and there are also remnants of the later south wall. The interior of the building is full of rubble. The building should be repointed and the walls capped. Other details: Site No. 62.

The single storey building located at SX 45041 68798 on the south side of the Pumping Engine House and was first shown on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map. It was interpreted as a possible carpenter’s shop and formed part of the Pumping Engine House complex (Site No. 59). The building was extended on its south side, when the south wall was removed and rebuilt approximately 2.5 metres to the south, probably in the late 1890s. In 2006 parts of the end wall were extant at the west and east ends, along with remnants of the later south wall. The interior was full of rubble from collapsed engine house walls. It was recommended that ideally, surviving masonry elements should be repointed, and wall heads capped.
The Mine Building was densely overgrown during this survey and not closely approached. Its condition was similar to that described in 2006 with no major recent failures identified. Walls at the east and west end were still visible, as well as remnants of the later south wall. The Mine Building was assessed to be in poor condition and considered to be of medium significance, relative to other features and structures within the Site. The location of the building is based on the Site Plan Figure No. 7. Other details: Site No. 62.
