Hegarty, C., 2025, Comment on Unlocking Landscapes project and related lidar and aerial photograph interpretations (Interpretation). SDV366411.

Curvilinear banks are visible on images derived from lidar data, as earthworks on the south-east slopes of Afton Tor, Bery Pomeroy. The banks are approximately 4m wide and up to 200m long, aligned roughly north-west to south-east. They do not correspond to any boundaries depicted on the Tithe Map for Berry Pomeroy but do respect the surrounding extant field pattern, which has been characterised as derived from strip fields of medieval date. AS such, they are interpreted as the remains of field boundaries of medieval origin that had been removed prior to the mid-19th century.

Horner, B., 2025, Lidar interpretation (Personal Comment). SDV366415.

Traces of field systems on Afton Tor.
