Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

Environment Agency, 2021, University of Exeter Understanding Landscapes Project - Lidar visualisation (Cartographic). SDV366001.

Two roughly parallel curvilinear banks are visible as earthworks.

Hegarty, C., 2025, Comment on Unlocking Landscapes project and related lidar and aerial photograph interpretations (Interpretation). SDV366411.

Two roughly parallel curvilinear banks approximately 8m to 10m wide are visible on images derived from lidar data as earthworks defining the eastern side of a possible curvilinear enclosure at the summit of Afton Tor, Berry Pomeroy. No earthworks can be seen on the north and west sides, under Afton Tor Wood, and Afton Tor quarry has destroyed any remains on the south side. The earthwork is probably of later prehistoric origin. Alternatively, the banks may be evidence of field boundary banks of medieval date. They do not correspond to any boundaries depicted on the Tithe Map for Berry Pomeroy, As such any historic boundaries had been removed prior to the mid-19th century.

Horner, B., 2025, Lidar interpretation (Personal Comment). SDV366415.

Traces of enclosures on Afton Tor.
