The visible earthworks do not correspond with any depicted boundaries.

Linear and curvilinear banks between 4m and 8m wide are visible on images derived from lidar data as earthworks defining a possible sub-circular enclosure nearly 60m long and 40m wide, at the summit of Telegraph Hill, Ilsington. The enclosure appears to have been incorporated into, and may therefore predate, a field system previously identified on Telegraph Hill (MDV123292) and a prehistoric origin is suggested. Alternatively, the enclosure may be contemporary with the field system or a previously unrecorded annexe associated with the enclosure surrounding the 19th century Admiralty Telegraph station that gave its name to this location (MDV9140), as depicted on the Tithe Map for Ilsington.

Sub-circular enclosure on telegraph Hill. May form part of field system (MDV123292) or be a discrete hilltop enclosure. Or, it may be early modern enclosure around the Admiralty Telegraph station (MDV9140). The telegraph building is depicted as standing on the Tithe Map, but in a rectangular plot.
