Full description
South West Heritage Trust, 1838-1848, Digitised Tithe Maps and Transcribed Apportionments (Cartographic). SDV359954.
The visible earthworks correspond in part to boundaries and the location of buildings depicted on the Tithe Map for Chulmleigh.

Banks, hollows and terraces are visible as earthworks.

Linear and curvilinear banks centred on SS73321685, SS73381678 and SS73451676 are visible on images derived from lidar. Some correspond in part to boundaries depicted on the Tithe Map for Chulmleigh and probably represent the remains of former infield boundaries associated with the previously more extensive settlement of East Week. Within these enclosed areas, rectilinear hollows or terraces at SS73371686 and SS 73391677 correspond to the location of former houses depicted on the Tithe Map. Further hollows centred on circa SS73341684 and SS73381677 indicate the probable sites of buildings not depicted on the historic mapping, with more extensive hollows at SS73431676 possibly indicative of a more substantial range of buildings surrounding a yard or courtyard up to 28m across. A hollow at SS73371675 may indicate a former lane or track providing access from the road to the south-west.
