Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

Curving field boundaries on either side of a long, narrow field (Plot 2135). The field is named as Lower Moor on the accompanying Fremington Tithe Apportionment.

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance Survey 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

The eastern boundary is no longer shown but the western boundary is still extant, as a stream.

Webb, P., 2023, Land South of Yelland Quay, Fremington, Devon: Results of a Heritage Impact Assessment with Geophysical Survey (Report - Assessment). SDV365652.

A geophysical survey carried out across four fields to the south of Yelland Quay identified 22 groups of anomalies. These were predominantly linear ditch and/or bank boundary features associated phases of the existing and historic field-system and which were removed in the later 19th or 20th century. They included two groups of linear
anomalies (13 and 14) representative of the curvilinear field boundaries of a former strip field system and which are depicted on the c.1838 Tithe Map.
[Anomaly group 9 which looked to be a linear boundary offset from the other boundaries in the current field system appears to be one of the angled field boundaries depicted on the Tithe Map.]
