Full description

Grinsell, L. V., 1978, Dartmoor Barrows, 176 (Article in Serial). SDV273224.

SX 57277028 Cairn found in 1976, diameter 8m and height 1m.

Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1980, SX57SE107 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV350770.

(23/07/1980) A pile of moss-covered but otherwise completely loose stones, elongated east-west is at the reference quoted by Grinsell in 1978 (Turner, J., undated). It measures 7.9 metres by 4.8 metres and is 1.1 metres high. Two other smaller but similar cairns occur within 100 metres. All are in a conifer plantation but are undoubtedly clearance cairns, probably of 18/19th century date when the area was enclosed.
No survey action taken.

Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England, 1985, Aerial Photograph Project (Dartmoor) - Dartmoor Pre-NMP (Cartographic). SDV319854.

Not visible due to tree cover on Royal Air Force 1946 aerial photographs.

Fletcher, M. J., 2007-2008, Walkhampton Premier Archaeological Landscape; Field Investigation Project (Report - Survey). SDV359195.

(09/08/2007) This cairn was not identifed because it is located within an overgrown 1920s confer plantation.
Not listed by Butler.
