North Kidwell Farm. The site is now occupied by a barn. Part of a larger estate, probably with associated farms South and Middle Kidwell, not identifiable. Referred to in leases of 18-19th centuries. Placename recorded in Domesday book as Cadewila, and recurs c1200, 1242 & 1333. No trace of site round barn found in field-walking in 1976 (citing Balkwill).

North Kidwell Farm. The nature of medieval settlement in this area is unclear but two buildings and a spring are shown in this location on the Uplowman Tithe Map of 1842. Prior to site clearance for the North Devon Link Road these were represented by a barn considered to be 19th century in date. The barn had been demolished prior to the watching brief, although the site itself was not actually affected by the road.
