Summary

A substantial bank runs south from the modern Exeter - Sidmouth road, carrying the parish boundary between Farringdon and Woodbury. This bank is referred to as the 'old dike' in a document describing the bounds of the Clystwicon estate in the late-11th century, so must have been in existence for some time then.
