'whitemoor corn mill' shown on os 25" (1880s) map as a long irregular shaped building with two detached buildings to the southeast and a leat to the east (os).

Whitemoor mill depicted on os surveyor's draft of 1804-5 and was used as a corn mill by 1887. Site bought by venn quarries in 1950's (rance).

1989 (ndas) according to local information the waterwheel was overshot and was working in the early 1950s to generate electricity for the house, which was then occupied by the two miss millards and later by maj. Warner. Then venn quarry bought the mill and some land, and the quarry manager lived in the house for some time. Later the mill was bulldozed and the house was buried by stone tips from the quarry. Now only the garden wall of the house and the bridge over the stream remain (ndas).

Vis=16/6/1982 (griffiths) access to site could not be gained, but building now destroyed by spoil heap of venn quarries. The road leading to the mill site from eastcombe is overgrown, and the small building marked on os 25" map at ss57863031 is in ruins (griffiths).

An early c16 document refers to 'whytemore mills'. In 1831 'whitemore mills' were described as a flour and grist mill with 3 pairs of millstones worked by an overshot waterwheel. The property also included a house, stables, pigsties, orchard and pasture (bodman).
