Summary

The foundation charter of canonsleigh abbey (1161 - c.1177) makes reference to the water-course of the old mill, lying south of the land of legh, and running from 'wlflega hill' to the path of the fish-pond (d + e rec soc). Reichel identifies 'wulfley hill' with whiteball hill, st0918 (reichel). Vis=7/6/1982(griffiths) a possible site for part of this leat is where fenacre water flows from fenacre farm south of the abbey buildings. Remains of a leat can be seen serving the medieval building at st16831741 (st01ne/15).
