Full description
TITHE MAP, Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV42231.
Foundation charter of canonsleigh abbey (1161 - c.1177) refers to 'the fish pond', which is in or near the land of leghe (d + c rec soc). At this grid ref, the tithe map shows an ovoid enclosure (field no.101) which is called 'pond garden', surrounded by a larger field (no.102) called 'island piece' (tithe map).

Vis=7/6/1982(griffiths) immediately south of 'shrubbery cottage' is a large circular/oval depression in the ground some ?20m in diameter. To the south of this is a mound 2-3m high. Hedge bank diverts round the south of this mound. The foundation charter suggests that the land of 'leghe' within which was the abbey itself (st01ne/2) was of fairly small size.
