Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

Hemsford is shown as 'Ford' on the 19th century map. Five separate buildings and a group of buildings around a square yard are shown to the east of the road.

Hemsford was once a hamlet of which only a farmstead remains.

Possibly associated with the Ford(e) family, who are recorded in the parish from at least the 14th century. Extent of the original settlement unknown.
