A windmill once stood on The Point. Marked on the 1809 Ordnance Survey map.

The windmill was built in 1797. It was mentioned in the rate book for 1825 but not for 1850. Devon;s most illustrated windmill.

The builder of the windmill was killed in 1799 when he was struck by a sail.

The windmill was severely damaged in a storm in 1818 and may not have been repaired thereafter for in it is mentioned as not working in 1825. By 1829 it was being worked internally by a horse or donkey. It was demolished in 1849 althouogh the stone stump of the mill survived another 50 years and was used by local boat builders.

Document indicating that the windmill was built soon after 5th September 1797 by Webber, Pearse and Marchant on land leased from Rolle. It was used for several years but became useless and fell into decay.
