Location of site uncertain. Probably from the old english, the root word being stutr meaning stumpy. Term possibly used in connection with a rounded hill of a certain shape. Certainly the first element of the word is from the old english 'bremel' meaning 'bramble-grown hill'. Earliest record is 1307 (gover et al).
