In 1556 three shillings were paid for "peynting the Palm Cross" (Ecclesiastical Antiquities of Devon, unpublished, edited by Col. Harding, 190).

2. Traditionally the Palm Cross stood in the churchyard of St. Brannock, Braunton but its exact site is not known.
3. No information was obtained during field investigation to make a more positive siting possible. No trace was found in churchyard.

In 1556 three shillings were paid for 'Pentyng the Palm Cross'. No trace of this cross now exists.
