'palace mill (corn)' shown on os 25" (1880s) map as a large t-shaped building to the northwest of 'kate brook' with a leat to the northeast (os).

Snell refers to the bishop's flour mill: "it is only a few years since the ancient flour mill was pulled down and a new house built on the site". This is believed to have been at palace mill farm (parker).

'palace' or 'place' grist mill was mentioned in 1794 and in 1859 it consisted of a house, mill, barn, stable, outhouses, garden and four small orchards. In 1989 the converted 'palace mill', 'the granary' and 'millhouse' were sold as residential units (bodman).
