In 1916 a water turbine, a gas turbine + storage batteries were installed at union mills to generate electricity for ivybridge. Water was taken at night + at weekends for generation when not required for the mill (harris).

Union mill built 1871 as a co-operative mill. In 1894 it had 4 pairs of stones. Now demolished. Site was cleared and in use as a car park by 1985 (watts).
