Earthworks of a circular shaped banked enclosure, circa 20m diameter, with internal pit are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946, to the southeast of Moorpark, Newton Abbot. The earthworks correspond with a circular plot (371) shown in this location on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map and recorded as ‘Quarry’ on the accompanying Tithe Apportionment. The earthworks are not shown on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map. The quarry is of possible post-medieval or 19th century date and had likely passed out of use by the late 19th century. The earthworks are not visible on recent available aerial imagery and have likely been completely levelled.
