Full description

Department of Environment, 1983, Newton Abbot, 38 (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV298253.

5 and 7 Wolborough Street. Early 19th century facade possibly to 17th century or earlier building. Three storeys stuccoed. Slate roof with paired bracket eaves. Band between floors. Three later mullioned and transomed casements. Central court entrance lined with horizontal wooden planks. Later shopfronts.

5 and 7 Wolborough Street. House, now 2 shops with flats above. 17th century building, re-fronted and re-roofed 19th and 20th centuries. Painted render,19th century paired brackets to a 20th century slate roof with truncated external brick stacks to the front slopes of the gable ends. Double-depth plans with long rear wings. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys; symmetrical 3-window range to the pair. 20th century cross windows, those to the second floor at eaves level; plat band; 20th century shop fronts. Between the shops is a passageway with horizontal planking to the walls. INTERIOR: not inspected. Date listed: 22nd March 1983.
