14 Plymouth Road. Tavyside School (formerly listed as Abbey House under Russell Street). Dated 1837. Built by the Bedford Estate as the grammar school. Two storeys stone ashlar with rustic face. Two gables and gabled half-dormer facing russell street one gable and half-dormer to Plymouth Road. Slate roof with chimneys set diagonally. Two-light stone mullioned windows with hood moulding. Gabled doorway. The letter 'B' and Bedford crest in gables and above doorway.

A grammar school built on the corner of Plymouth Road and Russelll Street in the 1830s was replaced by another further along Plymouth Road in the 1890s.
