Griffiths, D. M., 12/10/1984, Preliminary Archaeological Assessment of the Alternative Routes of the Barnstaple Bypass, Site 15 (Un-published). SDV356775.

Section of parish boundary presumably of medieval or earlier origin. On line of one of the propsed alternative routes for the Barnstaple bypass.

The Instow/Fremington parish boundary between SS50042925 and SS50822935 is a fairly substantial earthen hedgebank with traces of ditch on south side (west of road) which forms stream bed east of the road. Portion along road possibly rebuilt in parts. Average height is 1.5 metres above bottom of ditch, and 1 metre wide at top, but obscured by vegetation. Small portion at SS50832932 adjacent to and on line of Barnstaple bypass.

Substantial earthwork hedgebank at Huish Moor forms part of the boundary between Fremington and Instow parishes.
