Shop with house above, late 18th/early 19th century, some 20th century alterations. Mixed construction; stone rubble party wall and plastered timber-framing; centre axial and left end stacks with brick chimneyshafts and some old pots; slate roof. Plan: 2 rooms wide and 2 rooms deep. Exterior: 3 storeys; 2-window first-floor range. Plaster is lightly blocked out as ashlar. Ground floor has doorway to left, now containing 20th century top-glazed door, and altered late 19th century timber 2-bay shop front with, at right end, canted corner shop doorway which contains bottom-panelled glazed door between flanking pilasters. 2-window front above of horned 4-pane sashes, larger on first floor. Plat bands at first and second floor levels. Plain eaves to roof, which is hipped to right and gable-ended to left. Right end wall towards Broadstone has similar 2-window front but rear contains 20th century casements. Interior not inspected. History: Foss Street represents the line of a medieval dam which included a tidal mill. The mill pond was filled in and developed around 1820-30, although houses had been built along the Foss from the 17th century onwards.
