Proutworthy Farm shown comprising a group of five buildings set in various small yards with a pump and a well, and a small orchard to the north.

The name Proutworthy is first recorded as Prowtysburie in 1550. It is associated with the family of William Prouta, recorded in 1333.

Copies of a 19th century map and a plan of 1845 from the Fortescue Papers in the Devon Heritage Centre, showing the buildings at Proutworthy. There is also a document of 1815 relating to conditions for letting Higher and Lower Proutworthy.

Site visit 27th September 1984. The farmstead was ?demolished sometime between 1963 and 1973, and the site is now a grassy hillside with only a slight unevenness. No masonry is visible.
