House on a corner site with the Bampton Street side occupied by a dentists surgery and the Newport Street premises being occupied by a solicitors. Dating to the 1830s, it is built of red brick in Flemish bond style with a natural slate roof and cast-iron rainwater goods.
Plan: the front elevations to both streets are designed to be identical but the internal plans do not reflect this. Bampton Street is one room wide and double-depth while Newport Street is two rooms wide, one room deep with a central stair to the elevation that is parallel to the Bampton Street elevation which provides an entrance to the flat above the dentists.
Exterior: both the Bampton Street and Newport Street elevations are similar. They are each two storeys high and have three-bay fronts plus basement and attic. Each has a central doorway with round-headed arch and Gibbs surround. Incised reveals. The front doors have two vertical panels and an overlight at Newport Street and fanlight at Bampton Street. There are five 12-pane hornless sash windows on either elevation. To Newport Street there is a two-light casement dormer window. Flat arches over the windows. part of the roof at the Bampton Street elevation has asbestos slates and the basement pavement lights are sealed over.
Interior: partially inspected. Bampton Street has lost its original staircase. Newport Street has its original stick balusters and turned newel posts in a dogleg stair. Some original four panel doors remain.
