Two prehistoric round barrows situated on a gentle north facing slope in open moorland. The original form and composition of this barrow is unclear. It is now visible as a well defined flat topped mound apparently retained by a possibly contiguous ring of upright stones set within an earthen bank or scarp. The mound is up to 22 metres diamater and the granite retaining ring is 15.6 metres diameter. The interior is approximately 0.2 metres above ground level and some boulders within the rim protrude 0.1 metres above the earthen bank.

A low mound encircled by a narrow scarp and outer bank are clearly visible on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, on the gentle south-facing slopes on the higher unenclosed saddle of land of Ridding Down.
The earthworks are interpreted as the remains of a ring cairn or barrow of Bronze Age date.
The low central mound is slightly irregularly shaped and measures up to 11m across. The ring bank, circa 2m wide, is separated from the mound by a scarp 1-2m wide and encloses an area 13 to 14m across. A slight external scarp is detectable.
The earthworks are most clearly visible on aerial photographs of the mid to late 1960s. They remain clearly identifiable on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2002 but have suffered significant erosion from ground improvement on images of 2007, where the stones in the enclosing bank are clearly identifiable.
The earthworks are barely visible on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2016 and remain visible as only as very subtle earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013.
Ordnance Survey, 2022, Mastermap 2022 (Cartographic). SDV364674.
Cairn shown on modern mapping.
Historic England, 2022, National Heritage List for England, 1002586 (National Heritage List for England). SDV364675.
The monument, which falls into two separate areas of protection, includes a ring cairn and round cairn situated on a gentle north facing slope of Ridding Down overlooking the valley of the Tory Brook. The ring cairn, to the north, survives as a circular bank defined by a kerb of stones on its interior edge surrounding a central flat area with a diameter of 15.6 metres. The bank measures up to 3.2 metres wide and 0.4 metres high.
