Remains of St Andrew's church. Site visited on 2 nd October 1986. The building has long been roofless and it was overgrown with ivy and scrub. Work has been undertaken to clear the vegetation, consolidate the walling and partially restore the fabric. The majority of the window tracery has gone, part of the structure is in danger of collapse, however, the main part of the building can be described as being in a graceful state of decay. Church services are occasionally held in the nave.

Ruins of Church of St Andrew in South Huish was Listed on 26th January 1967. Ruined parish church of the 13th to 15th centuries and abandoned in 1866. Slatestone rubble walls. Plan: nave and chancel are the oldest parts to which a 14th century tower was added at the west end, and the north transept possibly at the same time. In the 15th century a south aisle and porch were built. In 1866 the Vicar of West Alvington with its dependent chapels decided that the church was not worth restoration. All its fittings were sold, including the Medieval screen which was taken to Bowringsleigh House in West Alvington. The arcade to the south aisle was removed to Dodbrooke church in the early 20th century. Exterior: the church is now roofless but the walls are largely intact although less so to the transept. The stonework of the west tower is much eroded, it has a blocked 15th century four-centred arched west doorway with mutilated Perpendicular window above. On the north wall of the nave is a 13th century lancet opening with the framework gone. The chancel has two similar windows, that on the south side opening into the aisle and still with its stone framework. Granite Perpendicular windows to south aisle end at east end of church. Single storey south porch with dressed rubble round headed doorway of South Hams type. Inner south doorway has four-centred chamfered stone head which blocks a former window opening in that wall. Internally the church has been completely stripped and has few features. Other details: LBS Number 100800.
