Summary

Possible cairn tentatively recorded by Grinsell (1978) but this identification has been questioned since. Could not be identified in 1980 or 2007. Site is scheduled however.

Grinsell, L. V., 1978, Dartmoor Barrows, 174, Walkhampton 17a (Article in Serial). SDV273224.

(25/04/1973) SX 5747 7076 A probable cairn with a hollow at the centre, but there are clearance heaps in the area. Diameter 6.5m height 0.9m.

(23/07/1980) There is no cairn at the reference quoted by Grinsell but it could apply to the cairn 120m to the north-west (SX 57 SE 87) or, less likely, to one of the group of clearance cairns to the north (SX 57 SE 88). An additional one of these was found at SX 5744 7073. It is heather covered, 4.3m. in diameter and 0.5m. high, but shows no
evidence of excavation. Surveyed at 1:10 000 on MSD.

(06/09/2007) This cairn was not identified in dense gorse vegetation. Not noted by Butler in the Dartmoor Atlas of Antiquities.

Historic England, 2021, National Heritage List for England, 1007415 (National Heritage List for England). SDV364016.

This monument includes a cairn forming part of a cairnfield on a gentle south-west facing slope of Raddick Hill overlooking the valley of the River Meavy. The cairn mound measures 3.8 metres in diameter and stands up to 0.5 metres high. This monument forms part of a wider cairnfield, comprising seventeen mounds, two lengths of boundary bank and a lynchet.
