Full description
Ordnance Survey, 1880s, Ordnance Survey, OS 25" (Cartographic). SDV848.
The mill leat is shown on OS 25" (1880s) map running southwest from a 'Weir' at SX90487731 to the mill pond, 66m long X up to 11m wide, at SX90157702.

Leat to Luton Grist Mill pond. It runs from SX90557744 to SX90187706. Now extant. Launder and wheel demolished.

A pipe from the mill pond fed a turbine installed at the beginning of 20C. The mill pond was dry in 2003.

'Luton Mill' was fed by a 300m leat running southwest from a stream past Higher & Lower Rixdale & Sharracombe to a long narrow mill pond cut into the hillside. The pond is retained by a massive stone rubble wall immediately above the mill.
