Full description
National Trust, 1984, Compton Castle (Report - Survey). SDV340960.
Cider pounds at Compton Castle. In the outer court of the castle there is a cider pound of granite and there is another in the inner court, now filled with soil and used as a flower-bed. The pounds almost certainly belonged to the estate, which still has a fair hectarage of cider apple orchards. The pound in the outer court is of an unusual construction.
