Summary

A picturesque pair of thatched cottages with an interesting history. The originated as a single, two cell house in the 17th century which was extended and divided into two Gothic Revival cottages in the early 19th century. One of the cottages was used as post office for about 100 years.

A picturesque pair of thatched cottages, facing north, looking across the Yeo valley. They originated as a two cell cross passage house built in the 17th century with an open fireplace and bake oven at the north-east end. The house was divided into two cottages in the early 19th century. A two storey extension was added to the rear to provide kitchens and front and side windows, doors and porches were renewed and placed symmetrically, the glazing and doors in Gothic Revival style. Further extensions were added in the mid-late 19th and 20th centuries.
The cottages show an interesting development from the original single cottage to two Gothic Revival cottages, one of which was a post office for about 100 years.
