(24/03/1950) A cairn 16 metres east-west and 12 metres north-south, height 0.9 metres. It appears to have been round in its original state, but has been excavated or pillaged, the spoil from the centre being dumped at the west end.

(May 1976) Between Western Beacon and Butterdon Hill about 105m west of Black Pool. On flat, grassy ground that has been almost completely cleared of stones. A grass covered mound of stones, with hollow centre. Oval shape with longer diameter. Diameter east-west 16.50m, north-south 12.2m. Height 0.6m. Altitude 310m.

(23/06/1973) A cairn, at present oval in shape, it situated at SX 65385811, west of Black Pool. It measures 17 metres diameter east-west and 13 metres north-south, by 0.8 metres high.

This is one of four cairns at the waterhole of Black Pool, in the valley between Butterdon Hill and Western Beacon. This large cairn lies west of Black Pool. It is oval in shape, 16 metres long by 12 metres cross and 0.6 metres high and is constructed of stone and earth, now largely turf covered, with a hollow in the centre suggesting that it may have been disturbed in the past.

Visited on 13th January 2021, surveyed and photographed. Cairn west of Black Pool: gorse & turf-covered stony mound, 12 metres north-west to south-east, 17 metres north-east to south-west, 0.8 metres high, large hollow with stony rim on east side, 4.6 metres by 3 metres, 0.5 metres deep. Three smaller hollows and stone heaps on west side suggest unrecorded excavation or stone extraction.
