South Burland appears to apply to a re-developed area of buildings, see NGR544412.


Exeter Archaeology, 2005, Archaeological Assessment (Revised) of proposed Wind Farm at Fullabrook, North Devon, 8 (Report - Assessment). SDV340799.

Shown as 'South Burland' in 1905 and as 'Burland Farm' in 1963 (the modern South Burland was built close to the main road). The original farmhouse is stone built with several stone farm buildings. Greenwood's 1827 map suggests that the complex included the 'Blue Ball', presumably a public house serving travellers on the short-lived turnpike road over Swindon Down. Other details: Site 27.
