A large sub-circular quarry, of probable Post Medieval date, is visible on aerial photographs as an earthwork on the eastern edge of Stock Down, Brayford. It is depicted on the first edition Ordnance Survey map and annotated "disused" suggesting it was abandoned shortly before the publication of the map in 1889. The quarry is cut by the Post Medieval field boundaries on Stock Down, and therefore must predate them. It was most likely used to supply building stone for nearby field boundaries and farm buildings. Other details: Monument Number 1488857.
