Dated 16/03/1978. Numbers 21 and 21a High Street. 16th century or 17th century merchant's house of "deux corps de batiments" type, rebuilt earlier 19th century but retaining small court with traces of former gallery and separate kitchen block with outside steps to first floor. 3 storeys. 1 window. Hipped Welsh slate roof with plain eaves band. Masonry party walls. Slate-hung, timber-framed front. Slightly recessed sash windows with glazing bars; first floor window with sidelights. Modern shopfront. Interior retains segmental recess of former newel staircase and muntin and plank partition of entrance passage. Interesting remains of former cockpit in masonry cellar originally approached from street by stone steps. The cockpit arena is walled off in one corner of the cellar.
