Doe, G., 1899, Report on Barrows, 99-100 (Article in Serial). SDV339162.

Visited on 26th June 1899. Excavated. The highway passes over it so it may have been disturbed during road making, and only charcoal and some burnt matter which may have been a burial was found. Barrow composed of clay.

Barrow divided by road, west portion under grass, east part under fern and bramble. No trace of ditch. Has superficial appearance of long barrow, but disproved by survey. Other details: Plan.

Department of Environment, 1970, Four Round Barrows on Darracott Moor (Schedule Document). SDV343703.

Barrow, (alongside B3232 road) 60 feet in diameter, 2 feet high, and is cut by a ditch for a hedgebank on the road side. Other details: Map, barrow a.

Grinsell, L. V., 1970, The Barrows of North Devon, 119 (Article in Serial). SDV7849.

Timms, S. C., 1981, Untitled Source (Personal Comment). SDV339164.

Field drains have been stacked along the hedge, presumably in advance of the agricultural improvement of the land on the south-east side of the road. Other details: Slide in HER.

Department of Environment, 1991, Round Barrow to the East of Darracott Moor, crossed by the B3232 (Schedule Document). SDV5485.

This round barrow is 35 metres in diameter and stands 1.05 metres high. As the barrow has been affected by ploughing in the past any ditch may have been obscured and the barrow may be broader and lower than originally constructed. It is at present under grass and is bisected by the B3232 road. The greater part of the barrow lies to the west of the road and a smaller part to the east. The mound is built of clay and when partially excavated in the last century, charcoal and the possible remains of a cremation burial were found. The length of the road which crosses the barrow and the road boundaries are excluded from the scheduling, but the barrow beneath, which shows clearly as a hump in the road, is included. The barrow is one of a small dispersed group which have demonstrated considerable potential for the preservation of environmental evidence both of a contemporary kind as well as of the pre-barrow ground surface.

Griffith, F. M., 1995, Untitled Source (Personal Comment). SDV339165.

This monument is still visible as a substantial earthwork. The western part appears to have been subjected to vigorous cultivation and appears truncated. At present under grass. The eastern half preserves a more 'normal' profile, and extends circa 9 metres into the field to the east of the road. This field is now under semi-improved grass, but appears not to be regularly cultivated.
