A large circa 100m by 60m earthwork depression is visible on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. The earthwork is visible either side of, and encompassing, the road which is depicted on the Tithe Map. The east side of the road appears to be deeper and less regular in appearance. It corresponds with a marl pit depicted on historic maps and is interpreted to be of post-medieval origin, possible pre-dating the road, with its east side likely to have been worked for a longer period of time, ceasing extraction by the end of the 19th century.
