Full description

Department of Environment, 1985, Cheriton Bishop, 12 (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV55378.

Linhay approx 45m south east of West Ford farmhouse. Linhay. C19. Cob on rubble footings with some C20 brick patching; granite piers and timber frame; slate roof. 2 storeys facing north. Roof hipped to right and gabled to left (although brick gable suggests that left end too originally hipped).4-bays. Granite orthostats support massive cross beams which support hayloft floor and seat rising posts which carry low pitch a-frame roof trusses with pegged, lap-jointed collars. Right bay apparently never floored and presumably used as cartshed.
