The lynton and barnstaple railway. The only narrow gauge passenger railway in devon, this line operated between 1898 and 1935 (minchinton). Opened 16/5/1898 a year later than scheduled. The railway paid a dividend from 1913-1921 but in 1922 a loss was made and the company sold the railway to the southern railway. The last train ran on 29/9/1935 (thomas).
