Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

Building is depicted on the late 19th century historic mapping.


Department of Environment, 1986, Lustleigh, 135 (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV304543.

No 3 Pound Cottages. Cottage. C16 or c17 with later additions. Solid, rendered walls of cob and stone; one range is entirely of cob on a stone footing.
Thatched roof. 2 gable-chimneys of large-scale granite rubble with tapered tops and weatherings. L-shaped, 2-room plan.2 storeys.3-window front to south. All windows have c20 wood casements without glazing-bars; c20 lean-to entrance-porch.
Interior: east range has chamfered upper floor beams with rounded step-stops. Owner says there is a large granite fireplace with wooden lintel, now plastered in; to left of it, a winding granite staircase, also covered over. West range has gable-fireplace said to have granite jambs; chamfered wood lintel partly visible. Above this range one truss is exposed in upper room, this having plain feet resting on wall-tops.
