Devon Great Consols. School set up on the mine in 1862 for those children too young to work in the mine.

Site of a group of buildings around a courtyard at Wheal Josiah mine shown on 19C maps which must have housed the mine's smithy & carpenter's shop. The western building at SX43067369 seems to have been the mine school mentioned from 1864 & labelled on the OS (1904) map. The survey in 2002 found no evidence for the buildings apart from some piles of rubble. Other details: Sites 230,230/1.
